Hello again readers!
I have to say, looking back, leaving Athens was bittersweet. I'll always have a lot of great memories there, and it was a huge challenge to me to live somewhere so different.
The last day before we left was the general strike. Most all people in the public sector were facing huge cuts to their salaries and budgets if the Austerity vote were to pass (which it did). Ideally, the cuts will help shovel off some of the debt Greece is in, but they're in really deep. Basically, the people came to Syntagma and demonstrated the day before and the day of the vote outside parliament.
Lots and lots of people.

Here's some of the English graffiti- Obviously, I can't translate the Greek
This was interesting.... Italy seems okay so far...
The crowds outside Syntagma
Burnt Garbage
Smashed Bank Windows
A frappe-fueled revolution
The view from Mount Lybetticus
Getting out was crazy, but by early friday morning, we were on a flight to Venice!
